(Pronounced fih’-kish)
History
After the Cataclysm, this highlands area was scrubbed clear of all vegetation and life. Winds and firestorms raged across the hills. But the ash and dust left behind provided ample sustenance for the ground to recover. After the 30-Year Winter, the ground had become quite fertile. The snows and snowmelt had helped the remaining organic material work its way into the ground, creating a rich soil that was primed for growing.
By the time anyone had emerged and made their way back to the highlands, the hills were covered in grasses and flowers. Slowly, a few families began making homes for themselves in the highlands, and the village was formed in 3230 BTG.
The initial villagers dug a central well for all to use, and this became the center of town.
Not much has happened in this small viallge, at least not until it started being rumored as teh location where The Legend of Rehonu was based. Still, the village is not on any main roads, and one would have to be focused on going specifically to this village to come across it. But in recent years, there have been a growing number of visitors as the legend has spread.
Architecture
Assets
This is not a wealthy village. Many just scrape by, but never will anyone go hungry. Villagers do their best to take care of each other, especially in the winter months when the cold, bitter winds from the Western Rinzeremel Mountains whistles down to the highlands.
Defences
Because of its location away from any borders, the village has never had to create any significant defenses. Under the protection of the Kingdom of Orsholon, they have been left relatively untouched by the border wars or any other entanglements.
Demographics
Geography
The village is settled in the foothills of the western Rinzeremel Mountains, just north of the Ribaqa River. It overlooks the valley through which the river flows.
The location benefits from the cool winds that come down from the peaks above it, making it a comfortable location even int he hottest of summers. Winters, however, can be quite cold for the same reason.
The village is surrounded by forests of pine, elm and birch trees, with clearings that are used by shepherds for grazing by their flocks.
Government
Industry
The main industry in Fykic is based in the shepherds trade. from the wool produced by sheep, the goat’s milk for production of cheeses, to the meat from their flocks, the shepherds are responsible for large portion of the trade in the village.
Additionally, a few farmers have a small trade in produce. The higher altitude allows for cooler weather and production of vegetables such as lettuce, potatoes and other root vegetables.
There has been an increasing interest from the world outside the village in The Legend of Rehonu, creating a small but growing tourism trade. While one or two merchants have taken to creating trinkets, as a whole, this tourism is tolerated, but not encouraged.
