Danny walks into Ears and Tales on his lunch break. He is greeted by a young seater. She says to him “Your usual spot.”
Danny says “Yes please.”
She leads him to a nice quiet spot where he can people watch the restaurant. It hasn’t taken off among humans like Ms. Willson had hoped. But the Kemonomimis have taken advantage of its location just on the edge of the tourist district and use it as a causal meet and greet spot for out-of-town visitors. He has seen co-parenting meetings with human couples seeking help with their Kemonomimi child. He has seen mixed type couples meeting with possible doners. He has even seen a few rare type coupes have their first awkward dates.
Danny looks over the menu and still gets a chuckle at seeing some of the names. Ms. Willson does have several different types of Hot Inus on the menu. Even a Heather themed one, The Helping Heather, with her permission of course.
The server sees Danny and says “Your usual?”
Danny says “Yes please.”
The server brings Danny a drink while he waits for his food. Ms. Willson comes out and says to him “I just got word that the check is in the mail. I really own you for that.”
Danny says “You were owned that money.”
Ms. Willson turns when she hears the bell that signals someone entering. She then says to Danny “Crap, he’s here.”
Danny glances at the lobby and then says to Ms. Willson “Go to your office and lock the door. We’ll handle him.” Ms. Willson almost bolts to the back. Danny quietly gets up and heads to the seater stand.
Ms. Willson almost runs past the cookline to get to her office. The Sue Chef sees her look of panic and looks to the lobby. He then whistles to the cooks and says “He’s here.” The cooks stop what they are doing and move towards the entrances to the kitchen. Some are still holding their chief knives. The servers go to the guests and tell them their food will be delayed when they see the cooks standing in the doorways.
The seater greets Jessica’s father as he walks up to the stand and is about to seat him when Danny says in a harsh tone “He’s not welcomed here.”
Jessica’s father says “discriminating against humans.”
Danny says “No, I know that the owner of this restaurant has a restraining order against you, and I know the square footage of this building. You violated that order the moment you set foot on this property. So you must leave now or else.”
Jessica’s father says “Or what? You’re going to claw me to death.”
Danny glances as his nails and says “Please, I try to keep my nails trimmed.”
Jessica’s father says “Then what are you going to do?”
Danny says “I’m not going to do anything, it’s the squad of officers that are behind you that will do something.”
Jessica’s father spins around and finds himself face to face with a squad of local police officers who had just come in for a quick lunch break that was called ahead. The squad leader says to Danny while looking at Jessica’s father “Is this man causing problems.”
Danny says “Well he is technically violating a restraining order right now that the owner has put on him.” Danny knows that almost all the police officers in the squad have met Ms. Willson and know her situation. Danny turns and starts walking away. But he stops and says to Jessica’s father “oh and if you thought my law firm was a pain in ass before. Wait until they get the footage of you violating the restraining order” as he motions to the security camera facing the door. Danny then says with a smile on his face “They are going to eat you alive” and walks away. Danny motions the cooks to get back to work as Jessica’s father turns back to face the angry officers.
