The sign of the Hunter is most associated with the goddess Mairien. Many believe that the disappearance of the Hunter from the night sky is also the signal that the hunting season is coming to an end for the year or that it is the time by which meant should be preserved for the coming winter.

Strong, logical, and rational, those born under the sign of the Hunter are often action-oriented and decisive. They are willing to work hard for their accomplishments, but are not opposed to taking short cuts to the top if available. Patient and loyal, Hunters tend to build strong relationships with those who show the same level of work ethic and dedication they do.

Hunters prefer brutal honesty and to get to the point rather than spending time elaborating. While they are quick and clever, they don't tend to get bogged down in intellectual pursuits or want to debate deeper meanings. Hunters tend to have very much what you see is what you get mentalities, and don't have much interest in posturing. They value accomplish and success of all types, which sometimes make it seem as if they value wealth when they truly just value security and determination.

Sometimes seen as impatient and tactless, Hunters will work to make amends when they have wronged others - though it sometimes takes them time to see where they have inflicted hurt. They are typically independent, forming a few close relationships. Hunters may come off as stoic and serious, but they can have fun and enjoy spontaneity, especially when it means creating a sense of fun and adventure. Hunters do not mind travel and are willing to try new things if just for the experience.

Brash and brazen, Hunters can be known for seeming to care little about the emotions of others. They tend to take stock more in ideas than words, and prefer action to observation. Hunters are rooted in reality and have little time for dreaming or imagination. While they can be observant, Hunters tend to use their skills of observation for self-serving purposes rather than to improve relationships or help others. They sometimes come off as cold and calculating, and have little time for letting their emotions take control.

The Hunter does well in careers that are done out-of-doors as well as in agriculture, trade skills, hospitality, the military, and domestic settings. The Hunter is most compatible with signs who are down-to-earth and grounded as well as signs who are hard-working and determined. The Hunter is least compatible with signs that are more focused on idealism than reality and who are over-emotional or sensitive.
