Alor Geltis: The Earthen Stronghold

The capital city of Alor Geltis, located in the heartland of the peninsula, is an architectural marvel of the Earth Genasi. Known for their stability and resilience, the Earth Genasi created a city that mirrors these qualities. Alor Geltis is a testament to their craftsmanship, with towering structures carved from stone and adorned with intricate earthen motifs. The city, under the wise leadership of Elder Terraform Aorin, has become a center of learning and a haven for all Genasi, fostering unity and cooperation among the diverse elemental beings.

They roam the skies and the lands in nomadic tribes, each led by a Sky Chieftain. The most renowned of these leaders is Zephyr Wingleader Vael, a figure of legend known for her unparalleled mastery of the skies. The Air Genasi value independence and exploration, their wanderlust taking them to the far corners of Quin.

The Ruins of Pyrehold: Legacy of the Fire Genasi

In the northern reaches of the peninsula lie the ruins of Pyrehold, once the greatest city of the Fire Genasi. A testament to their fiery spirit and ambition, Pyrehold was a city of grandeur and intensity. Now, Pyrehold stands as a haunting reminder of the dangers of unchecked passion and aggression. The Fire Genasi, under the guidance of current leader Inferno Ascendant Kyrax, are striving to rebuild their society, learning from the ashes of their past.

The Genasi Peninsula has not been immune to the influences of external powers. The Valkyrjar, known for their seafaring prowess and raiding culture, have made their presence felt along the coasts. In the annals of Quin's history, the chapter known as "The War of Dogs" is one of stark contrasts and desperate measures. As an observer and chronicler of time, I, Aldrin Gazlo, have delved into the complex tapestry of this conflict, marked not by the strife between Elves and all humans, but specifically with the House of Wolves of Paakta.

The roots of this war can be traced to the House of Wolves' dire situation in their homeland. Engulfed in a losing battle with the formidable House of Panthers and locked in a tenuous stalemate with the House of Crows, the Wolves turned their hungry eyes towards the lands of Quin. Their aggression was born of desperation, a bid to claim new territories to offset their waning influence and power in Paakta.

In this tumultuous time, the other human kingdoms, though not directly sympathetic to the Elven plight, did not view the Elves as a military target. The conflict, therefore, became a grim dance between the Wolves and the Elves, a struggle over land and survival.

The Grand Campaigns and The Battle of Celeb'rinthil

As the historian Aldrin Gazlo, I have chronicled many wars, but few as tragic as the grand campaigns led by the generals of the House of Wolves against the Elves of Dell-Coi. The campaign began with a series of surprise attacks, masterminded by cunning human generals like Marcellus Ironfang and Helena Blackstride. Their strategy was ruthless, aimed at catching the Elves off-guard and capitalizing on the element of surprise.

The Elves of Dell-Coi, renowned for their peaceful nature and artistic achievements, were ill-prepared for such a brutal onslaught. The human armies, driven by a fierce desperation to secure new lands, pushed deep into Elvish territory. Towns and villages, once havens of tranquility and beauty, were left in smoldering ruins.

Two years into the war, the final and most heartbreaking chapter of this conflict unfolded – The Battle of Celeb'rinthil, also known by the Elves as The Day of Elenwe. It was here that Frimmu Elenwe, the Lord of Celeb'rinthil and the recognized King of Dell-Coi, made his final stand. Surrounded and vastly outnumbered, the Elves fought with valor and desperation born of the knowledge that their way of life, their very existence, was teetering on the brink of extinction.

I witnessed the aftermath of the fall of Celeb'rinthil and it shook my weathered and ancient bones to their core. Never before had I witnessed such complete and total annihilation of a people. The remains of Celeb'rinthil are nothing but a large unnatural clearing north of The Dismal Steppe. Lord-King Frimmu was struck down by the banshee, General Helena Blackstride herself.

NOTE FROM ALDRIN: As much as I feel it is my duty I cannot bring myself to further chronicle the events of this day. It was truly the darkest day I have ever witnessed in my long exploration of Krea...

In the early days of the war, the Elves of Dell-Coi, in a bid to understand their enemy and seek a peaceful resolution, sent envoys to the human invaders. Tragically, these attempts at diplomacy were met with hostility, and the envoys were executed. This brutal response left the Elves with no choice but to turn to surveillance and sabotage.

Elven spies infiltrated the ranks of the Wolves, gathering information crucial to their survival. They conducted sabotage campaigns, targeting supply lines and military camps, in a desperate effort to stem the tide of the human onslaught. Though these efforts were fraught with danger, they provided the Elves with a glimmer of hope, a chance to fight back against a seemingly insurmountable foe.

Impact on Elven Societies and Travela and Jurney

The War of Dogs and the fall of Dell-Coi sent ripples through the other Elven societies of Quin. The Tarwa-Cui and Quessir-Run, though not directly involved in the conflict, felt its impact deeply. There was a growing sense of urgency, a realization that the world they knew was changing and that they might be the next targets of such aggression.

In the wake of these tumultuous events, the city of Jurney was founded. Established by refugees and those seeking to escape the tyranny of the Wolves, it stood as a symbol of resilience and hope. Jurney, along with Travela, became a melting pot of cultures, where Elves, humans, and other races came together, not in conflict, but in cooperation.

The Naval Blockade and the Treaty of Open Waters, pivotal events in Jurney's history, marked the beginning of a new era of trade and diplomacy. These events underscored the importance of Jurney and Travela as centers of cultural exchange and strategic significance in the post-war world.

As I, Aldrin Gazlo, write these words, I am reminded of the enduring strength and adaptability of the Elves and the other peoples of Krea. In the face of unimaginable adversity, they have found ways to rebuild, to forge new alliances, and to keep the flame of their cultures and identities burning bright in a world forever altered by the War of Dogs.

The Dismal Steppe (formerly the Vaeryn Peaks)

Before The Flattening

The Vaeryn Peaks, now known as the Dismal Steppe, were once a sight of unparalleled natural beauty. Towering majestically towards the heavens, these verdant mountains were home to the Vaeryn Ascendants, a reclusive sect of monks devoted to the harmony of the elements. I, Aldrin Gazlo, have walked among these peaks in days past, marveling at their tranquility and the wisdom of those who dwelled within.

The region was not just a spiritual haven but also a treasure trove of rare minerals, drawing miners and adventurers from far and wide. The Ascendants lived in peaceful coexistence with these visitors, their presence adding to the region's vibrant tapestry of life.

I would like whoever reads this to know something. The Vaeryn were among the most peaceful races in Krea. With no desire to migrate they were content as a race in their home, The Vaern Peaks, or as they called it Èldaræth which meant Heaven's Harmony if my memory serves me. Unfortunately, that's all I have to go on, they were reduced to extinction that day. The reason I am telling you this, reader, is that this is the cost of war. Loss.

The Flattening: The Tear

The cataclysm that befell this region, known infamously as "The Tear," was a disaster of such magnitude that it forever altered the face of Krea. During the final war, known as the Battle of Celestial Tears, a catastrophic experiment by the dragonborn scientist Plageus went horrifically awry. In an instant, the lush Vaeryn Peaks were no more, replaced by a nightmarish landscape.

The Flattening, as it came to be known, was a phenomenon beyond comprehension. The once towering peaks were sheared off, half a mile from their bases, as if an unseen cosmic blade had sliced through them. The aftermath left behind a wasteland of flattened rises and razor-sharp rock, a haunting mockery of the peaks' former glory. Where there was once life and greenery, now only barren, lifeless earth stretched out, a silent testament to the destructive forces unleashed that day.

In the shadow of this tragedy, several figures stood tall against the tide of despair:

  • General Arthun Silvermantle - Flame of Celeb'rinthil, titled by Lord-King Frimmu Elenwe - Flame of Embers, earned in battle and given by his men - Last Commander of Dell-Coi, posthumously given in recognition of his defiance in the face of extinction, humbly given by Ξ Aldrin Gazlo.
  • Veteran Sky-Cavalry Aerilaya Yvensno - The Skyblade, given by those who witnessed her fight early in the war - The Queen of Battle, given by a group of Dwarves and humans fighting with the Dell-Coi who survived The Tear.
  • Grand Alchemist Thokkum Fireheart - Blaster, an affectionate nickname and unofficial title he carried for his affinity with explosive-tipped cross bolts - The Bombholder, given posthumously by his Dwarvish cohorts as they believed him to be at the source of the blast of The Tear.
  • Sir Caius Nightborn - The Scar of Panthers, a notorious name given due to the nature of his departure from his home of Pardalis - The Wall, given by the elves of Dell-Coi on the day he earned their trust - Martyr-of-Man, the name given by the masses as his death became a story of redemption for humanity and is a reminder to other races that humans are varied and worthy of trust.

In the annals of Krea's tumultuous history, few figures stand as prominently as General Arthun Silvermantle, the last commander of the Vaeryn Defenders. His valiant leadership during the darkest hours is the stuff of legends. Commanding the remnants of Dell-Coi's forces, he held back an enemy tenfold his number in an unfavorable position for half a day. His courage and strategic acumen became a beacon of hope in those despairing times. It was on that fateful day that Marcellus Ironfang, the Dark General of the Wolves, met his end. According to reliable accounts, including testimonies I personally gathered from men and women who were there, it was Arthun Silvermantle who delivered the final blow. Arthun, with his sword Shimmer, struck Ironfang's neck, severing his head. As an impartial chronicler, I find a certain satisfaction in recording this act of justice. My apologies for this slight lapse in professionalism.

Aerilaya the Skyblade, an elven warrior whose skill was unrivaled, led a daring aerial assault that significantly disrupted the Wolves' advance. Mounted on her majestic Giant Eagle, Stormfeather, she bravely faced a detachment of Wolves numbering in the hundreds. Her body count is rumored to be over one hundred and sixty elites of Marcellus' Champion Ravagers. Her actions were not just for the sake of Dell-Coi but for all of Quin. Her silhouette, elegantly poised over a large eagle, is now a revered emblem among Elves, symbolizing the extraordinary courage inherent in their kind.

Thokkum Fireheart, a dwarf renowned for his expertise in explosives, embarked on a series of sabotage missions during The Battle of Celestial Tears. His actions disrupted the Wolves' advance, though they unwittingly led the enemy to the site of the cataclysmic blast. Thokkum, my dear friend of many centuries, could not have anticipated the outcome of his actions. I fondly recall our first meeting and the growth of his unique talents over time. His dedication to using his knowledge for good and not harm reassures me that, had he known about whatever it was in those caves that caused The Tear, he would have done everything in his power to prevent it.

Sir Caius Nightborn, a noble from the House of Panthers in Pardalis, found himself aligned with the Elves of Dell-Coi during The Battle of Celestial Tears. His bravery was unmatched as he faced numerous skirmishes, providing crucial opportunities for the Elven forces to regroup. When The Tear tore through the landscape, causing chaos and destruction, Caius risked his life to save many. I witnessed his final moments, providing comfort to a blinded dwarf even as he succumbed to his fatal wound. His last words were, "Its a tough wound brother but you're going to make it." This last, selfless act bridged a gap between Elves and humans, turning a chasm of distrust into a path of understanding and unity.

The Bastion stands as a lone fortress that miraculously withstood the magical onslaught. Legends abound of an ancient artifact within its walls that shielded it from destruction.

The Cradle of Echoes, a valley of jagged plateaus, is where the whispers of the lost can be heard, carried by the wind. It is said to be haunted by the spirits of those who fell in the Battle of Celestial Tears.

The Shattered Spire, the sole remnant of the highest peak of the Vaeryn, juts out of the landscape like a solemn monolith. It has become a pilgrimage site for those wishing to honor the memories of the lost and the world that once was.
