Part Three

Most of the summer drifted by uneventfully, with me taking up a summer job at Tim Hortons and lending support to Corie during her parents' separation. Our time together was abundant, as she sought refuge from the turmoil at home within the walls of my own abode. It allowed us to forge a stronger bond and deepen our friendship. Meanwhile, life in the other realm carried on its usual course. I diligently worked at the Inn alongside Cordelia, while sparing with Ryos or engaging in other pursuits during my leisure time. My attempts to confront my father on numerous occasions were in vain, as he remained preoccupied or dismissive. In the span of just two months, my baby nephew Mardin grew at an astonishing pace, his presence a testament to the fleeting nature of time.

Chris continued to guide my training at our designated meeting place, and he began incorporating Jen and David into our sessions. David, always one to inject humor into our midst, jokingly referred to our gatherings as weekly meetings of the chosen. Together, we delved into meditation and honed our skills in combat, striving to establish a connection that would enable us to sense each other's distress. Chris was resolute in his mission to ensure our safety, especially with the looming threat of the white doves. Henceforth, venturing forth alone was forbidden, and we found solace in the company of our group or trusted family members. Chris constantly reiterated the importance of vigilance, reminding us that danger could be lurking around any corner.

Amidst the whirlwind of training and work, summer swiftly slipped away, and my once-empty poem books overflowed with visions and prophecies. The visions arrived with an intensity that often left me reeling, accompanied by splitting headaches that threatened to topple me. They offered glimpses into the distant future, as well as events unfolding in the other realms. Most frequently, the visions revealed themselves after a peculiar occurrence akin to the falling of a veil. So numerous were these visions that it was difficult to fathom how my small crystal could contain them all. Recognizing the need for clarity amidst the chaos, Chris gifted me a tarot deck, assuring me it would aid in organizing my thoughts. He and David also procured decks for themselves and Jen, and we would often exchange readings during our shared nights together.

With a mere fortnight remaining before the resumption of school, everything appeared to be falling into place. Even in the other realms, I found solace and contentment. Corie, too, seemed to be on the mend. It felt as though I had finally discovered my rightful place, surrounded by friends and a sense of purpose. If only I could locate the other chosen ones, if only I could unravel the mysteries that lay ahead, perhaps then I could prepare myself for the impending challenges instead of training in the dark.
