The steps as requested have been taken. The Enemies at the gate, the woods, mountains and the sea have began to fall and are not aware of our involement, or the implementation of the glorious plan of His Most High and Supreme One. Rumors from the Enemy's Lair speak of an effort to get a group of "experienced adventurers" together to investigate our activities. This is true and they have already left the Enemy's Lair on their way. I will keep watch and continue to update you as more information is provided.

The peasants around here seem to be more skittish and seem to be lurking about more. Scare them, kill them, whatever it takes for them to leave and not disturb us here. Of course as always, I need more subjects for the machine.
While we are only a research outpost, there are still important artifacts here that MUST be protected! I will not have his Eminence or the Head Artificer come on a surprise inspection and catch us with our pants down! We must stay hidden here until HE says otherwise. Fix this or you will be one of my new subjects.

We have made progress in our understanding of the device! We continue to work tirelessly, and I look forward to sending subsequent letters as we discover more properties. For now, we have discovered the following facts in our research:
The device has an indicator that glows different colors depending upon the strength of the subject inside
While the device can be used to harvest the subject completely, multiple sessions seem to have a positive effect upon their temperament and agreeability
At this time, we are not able to move the device nor have we found a way to make it portable. When we have tried to replicate the device, we have been met with catastropic failure. We continue to experiment at your behest, more letters to come.

Make sure that all the men are aware that the Artificer is currently out but his underling has been left with steps to continue one of the experiments. Do NOT disturb the experiments in the lab for the next 48 hours or you will join the fodder. I am going to be out of reach in the Command Cavern to plan and set up the next patrol to round up more fodder. Do NOT disturb me while I am working on the planning for the next 24 hours or expect to be on latrine duty.
