59S/58W - Evening

Oh, hey. Dear Diary? I'm still alive, no worries.

It's been... I think... two weeks since my last entry. I'm sorry. I swear I'll record entries more regularly again from now on. Or I'll try at least.

It's just that nothing interesting has happened lately. The factory is sleeping. Wren doesn't want to play, only study. I started learning to read as well... Because, yeah, she is right. I guess. I prefer it when the Matchmakers just tell me about stuff, though. It's more interesting than trying to decipher old books. But the Matchmakers are... not really busy... but they don't want to hang out with me that much. One of them said I shouldn't get too used to them being around.

I wonder what they are doing all the time? I noticed that some of them are leaving the factory grounds every now and then. When I asked them what they are doing outside, they just said "errands". Errands... I had no idea what exactly they meant by that, but I'll get to that in a bit. The rest of the time they seem to spend just talking to each other... or playing games. You know, what I'm not doing.

I got so bored that I asked if I can help them with anything at all. So I spent several hours over a couple days removing plants from just about every building here. The Matchmakers seemed indifferent towards the result.

Well. Today, something extremely interesting happened.

I have to admit that I hadn't thought about where all our fuel comes from yet. I mean, I know where it comes from in general. You take it from others. And it seems to me like the Matchmakers who leave the factory for errands are taking some of this fuel from others. Sometimes they come back slightly damaged, and Tzako repairs them.

But today, it was explained to me that they can only find enough fuel and parts with their errands to make sure they themselves are well-fed and can be repaired. The factory, however, needs a lot more material than that. So, they get "shipments" from the outside. Of course, tanks from the outside are not allowed to enter the factory grounds. But! That's where the other machines come in, apparently. I saw some of those today!

The other machines that brought the shipment didn't look like tanks at all. They were a similar size, but didn't have a turret or cannon. They also didn't have tracks around their wheels! I was told this type of machine is called a "truck" and they can't fight. Like, at all. However, they had big cargo compartments and were carrying a lot of fuel and other things in them. Wren and I helped the Matchmakers carry the supplies to the storages. I also got new film for my camera!

One thing that baffles me a bit in hindsight is... none of the trucks talked much. And when they did, it sounded weirdly... simple? As if they didn't know how to talk properly. I didn't think too much of it at the time, but now I'm starting to wonder.

I guess I'll ask a Matchmaker tomorrow what is up with that.
